State of Tomorrow's Classroom

At tonight’s State of the Union Address, I hope that President Obama will both paint a picture of how he plans to not only protect education from potential budget cuts, yet put a stake in the ground demonstrating that the US cannot simply sit still. With recent academic comparisons, from the December 2010 OECD results -- bit.ly/RFplA -- show that the US ranks 17th in reading, 31st in math, and 23rd in science. Now is the time for the US Department of Education and the White House to step up and lead the education effort to ensure that not just our children fall behind, rather that they can, in fact, move ahead.
